Child and Parent Council
Effective
child abuse prevention requires a whole community effort. The
Child and Parent Council is one of sixteen Child Abuse and Neglect
prevention Councils in Maine. The Council’s work is guided by
an Advisory Board representing diverse professional and geographic areas in Waldo County.
The Child and Parent Council works to promote safety and quality of life for children and their families in Waldo County; encourages and maintains coordinated community efforts to prevents child abuse and neglect;and advocates for appropriate and timely intervention and treatment for abused and neglected children and their families.
The Child and Parent Council helps to prevent the abuse and neglect of children by
raising awareness, providing education, building community strengths and coordinating services.

The Healthy Youth Project, administered by the Child & Parent Council, is a collaborative project of Broadreach and the Building Communities for Children Coalition working to reduce alcohol use by Waldo County youth aged 12-17
through positive youth development activities .
The work
of the Broadreach Child and Parent Council is supported with
funding from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
